Green Mountain Transit, the sole transit authority in the State of Vermont, is seeking to hire a career – focused mechanic. Our mission is rooted in ensuring a safe, stable, and comfortable (air conditioned shop) work environment for our employees and providing safe, convenient, accessible, innovative, and sustainable public transportation for our community.

We have several exciting opportunities for individuals who would like to join an expert team and grow as GMT grows.

Mechanics

Our team of mechanics perform preventative and corrective maintenance, keeping our community moving. GMT’s team of mechanics maintains a fleet of approximately 100 buses GMT is looking to add two experienced mechanics with his or her own tools, preferably heavy – duty diesel experience and a CDL (we are willing to train the right candidate), with the desire to
continue in your professional development. Compensation is based on experience, paired with a generous benefits package. Mechanics receive an annual tool allowance and GMT provides uniforms and safety shoes. We have openings in our Berlin and Burlington offices. Mechanics receive a $500.00 sign-on bonus.

Full-Time Trip Planner (St. Albans Location)

GMTA is seeking a dynamic individual for a full-time Trip Planner position. The responsibilities for this customer service position include general customer service inquiries, passenger and administrative assistance. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, enjoy working with the public, have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, and the ability to juggle multiple projects.

Operations Supervisor (Berlin Location)

Join our team of Operations Supervisors responsible for the daily field support and supervision of Bus Drivers at GMTA. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing support and assistance to Drivers and Customers and facilitating customer service in the Berlin, St Albans, and Mountain regions
  • Participating in training new Bus Drivers
  • Assisting with accident investigations

Some Saturday work is required. Other responsibilities include conducting on-board Driver evaluations, monitoring radio communications, and field/road observation. The ideal candidate will have a college degree , experience as a Driver, and supervisory experience. Other transportation or similar experience may be substituted. A CDL with passenger endorsement is required or the ability to obtain one with 90 days of the date of hire.

Full & Part-time Bus Drivers (St. Albans Location) Part-time Bus Drivers (Berlin)

GMT is looking for full-time and part-time Bus Drivers.  Our Bus Drivers provide excellent customer service, have a great driving record and a positive team attitude.  A clean CDL class-B license with air brake and passenger endorsements is preferred. GMT will train the ideal candidate to receive the necessary endorsements. 

Candidates must pass background checks, drug screening, and medical evaluation.
